At Habibi Center,

our mission is to empower refugee youth for a brighter future.

Through education and the development of life skills, our vision is to highlight the value and potential of refugee youth and see them become active, independent members of society.

By establishing Habibi Center USA, our vision now includes supporting other non-profit organizations doing refugee youth work.

Our Story

Habibi Center first opened its doors on August 8, 2016 in Eleousa, a small town in northern Greece. At the time, Habibi Center provided informal education to youth in the area who lived in refugee camps and temporary housing.

After operating as a grassroots project for two years, in 2018, Habibi Center became a registered Spanish non-profit organization. Today, Habibi Center is located in the center of Athens and run by a team of long and short-term volunteers from around the world.

In 2021, Habibi Center USA was established as an opportunity to expand our support of refugee youth work to include other non-profit organizations.

Support our work

Habibi Center is funded through the generous donations of people around the world, and we hope you will join our family and support our work!

Your donations will allow us to continue operating our Athens school year-round, increase the number of refugee youth we are able to support, expand and diversify the programs and opportunities we are able to offer our students, and provide funding opportunities for other non-profit organizations doing refugee youth work.
